I realized this week that though there feels like there is a LOT going on in my life, the reality is that there is a lot going on in the lives of the people around me. My best girlfriends are all taking on new challenges. One is a teacher dealing with overcrowded classrooms, and one is a new mother with an intrusive father in law who actually built the equivalent of an 8'x8'' rainbow bright steel windchime for her backyard, one has recently moved out of state and one is dealing with day care issues for her 9 month old. Each has "stuff" going on. My boyfriend, for those of you who do not read his blog, has recently helped his parents move here from Buffalo and has spent the past 5 weeks getting them settled. In the midst of that, he got a new job that is a wonderful opportunity that starts in the next two weeks -- travel abroad included. It has gotten me thinking... (run now!) When there is much happening in the lives of those closest to us, why it is that we feel like it is somehow happening to us? Is it because we talk about it and since there is deep care for these people, I internalize their "stuff" ? hmmmm...
What I do know is that I am going on vacation! My first one in about 2 years (aside form the trip to LA to see the play -- but it as LA and that is kind of home), and the first one with Ken. It is only 3 days, but what a fabulous 3 days it will be . San Francisco here I come! I am relishing the idea of getting to know Ken all over again. The time with his folks has been helpful in making us take a step back; but I am ready to pick up the ball and see where it moves us. Time near water, in a nice hotel and with someone I love. I am thinking I have hit a jackpot -- and it really is happening to me!
