I had a friend who used to say, when things were bad, weird, or undesirable, that they were "over the rainbow". I am off on a trip today which, I am sure, will be sending me over the rainbow in a relatively big way. Let me introduce you to my mother. We will call her Lulu for purposes of this dialogue. I am off to spend a weekend with her, as I seem to be doing once a month, and help her get things in order around her house.
We are going to go to movies, out to dinners and some shopping in between cleaning the kitchen, changing her linen, doing laundry and organizing her bedroom. To say there are boxes ins an understatement. Fun, huh?
But let's be honest. The reason I am going this weekend is to assayed fears that Ken's folks will become more important to me and a bigger part of my life than she is. As if anyone could do that. I am sure there will be questions about Ken and my relationship, little digs about my appearance, and lots of demands for more attention. But, I will admit to being mixed in there, lots of "I love you" and hugs and kisses. A veritable roller coaster one might say.
Well, off I go -- now where is my damned broomstick?
